Abstract

 Rome's foreign policy towards Greece and the Hellenistic kingdoms in the eastern Mediterranean was formed after the year 168 BC and its victory over the Macedonian king Prisius in the famous Battle of Pydna. Therefore, Rome adopted a strict policy and a strict grip on Greece and Asia Minor, and weakened the neighboring kingdoms materially and morally.  Rome's position graduated from the provisions of treaties and friendship, to using a policy of direct control and subordination, annexing lands to its possessions, and creating new kingdoms and rulers who blindly obeyed its orders. This was translated on the ground in its policy towards Rhodes and Pergamon, which were among its closest loyal allies.   The Kingdom of Rhodes and Pergamon had to pay the price for their sympathy with King Prisius, and for this reason Rome decided to change its policy towards them, thus ending the eras of harmony and friendship due to the two great mistakes committed by both Rhodes and Pergamon, which proved their inability to understand matters and stay away from what would arouse the anger of Rome in such political circumstances.  And the military that prevailed in Rome in that period
