Abstract

The study aimed to explore the mutual relationship between academic procrastination, sleep procrastination, and shyness among university students (both undergraduate and postgraduate) in various disciplines. The study sample consisted of 25 students from Omar Al-Mukhtar University, chosen from three faculties (Arts, Economics, Law), with a mean age of 21.04 years and standard deviation of 1.40. Three measures were applied to the sample: academic procrastination, sleep procrastination, and shyness (researcher's translation). One of the key findings of the study was the presence of a statistically significant positive correlation between academic procrastination and sleep procrastination, while no relationship was found between shyness and either academic procrastination or sleep procrastation. Additionally, the results showed significant gender differences in academic procrastination, sleep procrastination, and shyness, with females having higher average scores than males, indicating a favoring of females. Moreover, the results of the multiple stepwise regression analysis revealed that academic discipline was the strongest predictor of academic procrastination and sleep procrastation in the total sample.
