Digital Repositories, Open Access MovementAbstract
Digital repositories are one of the forms of modern scientific communication that resulted from the rapid developments in communications and information technologies on the one hand, and from the Open Access Movement on the other hand. They aim to liberate the scientific intellectual production available on the Internet from the technical, legal and financial restrictions that hinder its availability and limit the benefit from it.Institutional digital repositories are, in recent times, considered one of the most important channels for broadcasting and making scientific output available to scientific institutions, universities, and others. They aim to make the scientific outputs of these institutions available in their various forms without restriction or condition. This study aims to identify the reality of some institutional digital repositories in Libyan universities in terms of analyzing their content to identify their most prominent and important features and characteristics.Through this study, the researcher aims to identify the content of the digital repositories of the University of Tripoli, the University of Benghazi, and the University of Sebha from information sources, explain their most important features and characteristics, and identify their numbers, types, languages, specializations, and how to make them available. Study questions:1. What are the number of sources of information contained in the repositories under study?
2. What are the types of these sources?
3. In what languages are these sources?
4. What are the specializations of these sources?
5. Are these sources available in full text?
