Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between social anxiety and job satisfaction, to determine the contribution of social anxiety dimensions to job satisfaction, and to predict job satisfaction dimensions based on social anxiety levels among physical education teachers in Tobruk City. The study sample included 48 teachers, representing 71.64% of the total population of 67 physical education teachers in Tobruk City, selected through purposive sampling. The survey was conducted on 13 teachers, while the primary study was conducted on 35 teachers. The researcher used the Social Anxiety Scale for Physical Education Teachers (developed by the researcher) and the Job Satisfaction Scale for Physical Education Teachers (developed by the researcher). All research procedures were carried out from January 8, 2023, to February 9, 2023, in schools in Tobruk City, Libya.

The results showed that all correlation coefficients between social anxiety and job satisfaction were negative, indicating an inverse relationship. No significant correlation was found between social anxiety in social situations and satisfaction with the nature and responsibilities of the physical education teaching profession, between professional behaviors and both social performance anxiety and fear of negative evaluation, or between satisfaction with the financial returns of the profession and both social situation confrontation anxiety and accompanying symptoms of social anxiety. The contribution of social anxiety dimensions to job satisfaction among physical education teachers in Tobruk was determined, and predictive equations for job satisfaction based on social anxiety dimensions were developed. The researcher recommended considering social aspects and working to reduce social anxiety among physical education teachers, allowing them to perform their roles effectively and prepare physically active students to serve the Libyan community, enhance the school working environment, and support its resources.
