THE DIFFERENCES IN THE METHODS OF COPING WITH STRESS BETWEEN MALE AND FEMALE STUDENTS OF MY COLLEGES ARTS AND SCIENCES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TOBRUK (DIFFUSION + INTERACTION)

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the prevalence of methods of coexisting with stress in the research sample and to identify the differences according to gender and academic specialization, as well as to identify the interaction between gender and specialization in methods of coexistence with stress among the research sample.

 The comparative descriptive method was used in this study, and the study sample consisted of (105) male and female students who were selected in a simple random way from the faculties of Arts and Sciences in various scientific departments. Those whose ages range from 18 to 24 years, has been relied on the stress coexistence test as a tool for data collection, which was prepared and designed by Lutfi Abdel Basset Ibrahim (1994), which consists of "42" paragraphs that are answered with four alternatives. The test was applied to the study sample, and the study reached a set of results, the most important of which is that there is a spreadofmethods of coexistence according to the study variables (type and academic specialization), Where it was found that there are statistically significant differences in the gender variable in favor of females in the prevalence of coexistence methods, while the t value showed that the average of males is not significant at the level of 0.1. The results also showed that there are statistically significant differences in the academic specialization variable at the level of 0.1 in favor of the literary specialization with the spread of coexistence methods. The study also found that there are differences according to gender in favor of males in dealing with the methods of coexistence with stress, which are statistically significant at the level of significance of 0.1., the study also found that there are no differences according to specialization (scientific - literary) in the methods of coexistence with stress and it is not statistically significant, also There is no interaction between gender and specialization in the methods of coexisting with stress, which is not statistically significant at the 0.05 level.
