Domestic violence against children (Its causes - forms - effects - proposed solutions to reduce it)

The study aimed to identify the causes leading to the use of domestic violence against children, its most prevalent forms, its consequences, and the proposed solutions to reduce the phenomenon of domestic violence against children. The researcher relied on the descriptive approach using the social survey method. The study tool was a questionnaire and interview form. The study sample consisted of (65) male and female children from a Libyan family residing in the Al-Zahour neighborhood in the city of Tobruk. To process the data and information, the researcher relied on the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The study concluded that the majority of the study sample members were male, their ages ranged between 13-15 years, and that the majority of them belonged to families with 5-8 members. They lived in families with a medium economic level, and that the majority of the parents of the respondents held university degrees. It was also found that parents' ignorance of proper social upbringing methods was the most important reason for the use of violence against their children. It was also found that the most prevalent form of violence was verbal violence. It was also found that the most significant impact of domestic violence against children It creates weak personalities in them.
