Climatic conditions and their impact on crop composition in the Marj region, northeastern Libya

Abstract

Climate is one of the most important natural factors that affect agricultural activity and the most controlling of it, as crops have specific climatic requirements that they respond to, whether in determining the type of crops grown or in the nature of the agricultural operations they require, as its effect appears in the crop composition and production in terms of quantity and quality. This study aims to shed light on the impact of climatic conditions on the crop composition in the Marj region by studying climate elements such as rain, temperature, sunshine hours, wind, evaporation, and relative humidity, and analyzing the crop composition and geographical distribution of crops in the study area. This study relied on a set of approaches and methods to achieve the objectives of the study, the most important of which are the regional approach, the crop approach, and the quantitative method of analysis and showing the relationship between climate and crop composition in the Marj region.
