Publication ethics: Role and responsibility of authors

Publication of scientific papers is critical for modern science evolution, and professional advancement. However, it comes with many responsibilities. TUJES has a strong commitment to maintaining the credibility and objectivity of publication. Therefore, the editorial board sets the following Good Publication Practices (GPP) guide and encourages authors to adhere to this guide:

ˆ Scientific integrity is a must; the authors should take into account scientific honesty, fairness, and clarity in the conducted research.

ˆ Authors should use clear and concise language in the preparation of the manuscript, as this helps editors and reviewers concentrate on the content.

ˆ Authors should avoid plagiarism or self-plagiarism by all means. Authors must acknowledge the source of the idea by properly citing and paraphrasing the text in their own words. If the plagiarism is detected to be higher than 30%, the manuscript will be rejected before the review process.

ˆ TUJES has included a Conflict-of-Interest disclosure statement in the final published version of the accepted manuscript that has to be agreed upon by each co-author. The disclosure form intends to declare any potential conflict so that the readers may form their judgment about the findings and observations in the manuscript.

ˆ Authors should not submit the manuscript to another journal for simultaneous consideration. TUJES requires the corresponding author to fill out a written pledge stating that the research is original and has not been published elsewhere, nor is it currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. If a violation is detected and the manuscript has already been published, then the manuscript will be retracted with or without the author’s clarification or approval.

ˆ In case of duplicate or redundant publication, the authors should declare and provide a copy of the related published work to help the editorial board decide how to handle the submission. Authors who attempt to duplicate publication without such notification would face prompt rejection of the submitted manuscript. If the editorial board was not aware of the violations and the manuscript has already been published, then the manuscript will be retracted with or without the author’s clarification or approval
