Author Guidelines

Tobruk University Journal of Medical Sciences (TUJMS) invites the submission of original, high-quality manuscripts that align with the journal’s aims and scope. All submissions must meet scientific rigour, ethical standards, and relevance to biomedical, clinical, or public health research.

Manuscripts are first screened by the editorial team. Those meeting the journal’s criteria will proceed to double-blind peer review. Submissions may be desk-rejected if they fail to meet essential quality, structure, or ethical standards.

General Submission Requirements:

Before submitting, authors must ensure the following:

  • All authors have reviewed and approved the manuscript and meet authorship criteria.
  • Required ethical approvals (e.g., IRB, animal ethics) are in place, if applicable.
  • All third-party content (e.g., figures, datasets) has proper permission for use.
  • The manuscript is written in clear, academic English (British spelling).
  • The manuscript is formatted using the official TUJMS Manuscript Template (available for download on the journal website).

Submission Preparation Checklist

Authors must upload the following materials via the online submission system:

  • Cover Letter addressed to the Editor-in-Chief
  • Article Text – without author names (for blind peer review)
  • Article Text – with author names (for final publication)
  • Author Declaration and Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form (one per author, compiled into a single PDF by the Corresponding Author)
  • Structured Abstract (250–300 words) and 3–6 keywords
  • All Tables and Figures in editable formats (e.g., Word, Excel, or original design files)
  • Ethical Approval / Consent Form (required for studies involving human or animal subjects)
  • EQUATOR Reporting Checklist (e.g., CONSORT, STROBE, PRISMA, CARE), if applicable
  • Reference Section formatted according to Vancouver style guidelines
  • Data Availability Statement, where applicable
  • ORCID iD for each author (recommended)

Original Research Articles

Full-length reports presenting novel findings from clinical, laboratory, or public health research

Review Articles

Comprehensive summaries and critical analyses of the existing literature on specific topics.

Short Communications

Brief reports of new insights or important preliminary data

Case Reports

Detailed presentations of clinical cases that offer unique learning points

Letters to the Editor

Concise responses, comments, or observations about published TUJMS content or recent medical developments

Copyright Notice

TUJMS follows strict international standards for publication ethics and does not tolerate:

  • Plagiarism or duplicate publication
  • Data manipulation or falsification
  • Improper authorship or undisclosed conflicts of interest
  • All manuscripts are screened using iThenticate. Submissions with high similarity or ethical breaches will be rejected.
